The Highs and Lows of Working at a Startup
Mindsumo had our second company outing this week. After spending a few hours at work in painful anticipation of whatever adventure awaited us (the nature of our outing was kept secret from the majority of the team), we piled into cars and headed North to Union City. Expectations of what was to come were shattered when we arrived at iFly, the bay area’s premier indoor skydiving destination!
After acing the test in “flight school” we donned jump suits and were ready to enter the iFly chamber, which contains four 250 horsepower fans that produce winds up to 180 miles per hour. With the help of a friendly instructor we all flew, fell, and flopped around the space with all the grace of baby ducks taking flight for the first time. Overall the best flyer had to be our CEO Trent, who actually managed to go for nearly ten seconds without slamming into wall on his second go around.
Afterwards we had a group lunch at Fuddruckers and headed back to the office where we spent the rest of the day working at super speed from the adrenaline still pumping through our veins. At MindSumo we know how to buckle down and work hard. However, we also recognize the importance of maintaining a friendly environment with an open line of communication at every level. We look forward to more adventures soon, maybe we’ll try outdoor skydiving next time.
