Ways to De-Stress After Studying
Studying for finals is stressful. After cramming all that information into your head it can be tough to go back to functioning in your normal day to day routine. Try these techniques to de-stress after studying to bring yourself back down to earth.
Watch TV episodes you’ve already seen: After your brain is totally fried from studying, it might be best to watch some episodes of a favorite show. You won’t have to pay too much attention, but it will still help you settle down.
Get some exercise: Exercising releases endorphins, which make you happy no matter how many formulas you just attempted to memorize.
Tell your friends about what you learned: Chatting with a friend about what you just studied will help you synthesize and retain the the knowledge you’re trying to obtain, and simplifying it to explain to someone else can make the information seem less daunting. If you’re lucky your friends might even pretend to be interested!
Try a 5 minute meditation session: It might seem a little cheesy, but taking 5 minutes to think deeply about everything you just learned can help you better put things into perspective. Sit down, set a 5 minute timer, close your eyes (no peeking!) and try to put in perspective what you just learned and how you will use it.
